Sahara (Arabic, fusha)

(n) desert

Looking back at these photographs, I realise that I am not wearing any shoes.

We had arrived late in the evening the day before, after being lost in a sandstorm. Somewhere in the flurry of a sand, our driver spotted headlights belonging to a Range Rover, who we supposed had proper GPS and we followed it into the sandy abyss, arriving safely to an oasis.

The storm lasted the night but we were consoled by the good food and live music. We awoke to dead silence, and we all trudged in the darkness to the camels that awaited us.

Watching the sun rise in the desert, with nothing but sand from horizon to horizon, was meditative. We all hardly spoke at that moment. Nothing could have ever described that intense beauty.
